The Writer

"How shall we place him?  A humanist?  An emerging poet?  Lover of nature?  Seeker of truth?

These questions naturally arise as we read this collection of the author’s writings during the last two decades. Actually he is all of them- and more. Whether the reflection presented here are narrative, lyrical or contemplative – as he classifies them – there is one striking note that runs through all, and that is his passion for love which is another face of truth. No experience of life- and evidently he has had many – leaves him bitter. Even death reveals to him another side of life.

The themes he handles are varied. The way he expresses himself makes us wonder what the strength of his appeal is. Beauty of sky? Power of thought? No, it is the authenticity of his experience, psychological and spiritual, that touches the reader and makes him as humble as the writer himself. Whether he speaks of the guru ‘who leaves no footprints’ or of prayer with the language of ‘tears in the eye’ rather than of ‘words upon the lips’ or of the trap of solitude, we are the presence of an ardent seeker. The thinker in him love precision of expression: truth, he says, is beyond method astrology is indicative, not determinative."

Dwaraknath Reddy's Quotes

“ As long as I turn my back upon the sun of Truth, my shadow lay long and dark in front of me and pretended that it was leading while I followed.

When I turned the face of enquiry towards the Truth, the shadow at once fell behind me, content to follow. But when I stood in the noon – day blaze of Truth at its zenith, the shadow died, buried beneath my feet.”

“I am born with a capacity to wonder, so I wonder at the majesty, and magnificence of the world

I inhabit. Often with delight, sometimes with awe I look upon he vastness and variety in creation, the expanses of space and the might of elemental energies, the ocean and the dew drop, the fierce sun and the twinkling star, the mountain and the flower, the oak and the weed, the butterfly an the beast”

"The perfect one, whoever he is, is not known by outward signs. He is ever natural, and sees naturalness alone everywhere. To those who have misunderstood themselves to be cripples, he will reveal the potent power of their own limbs. He tempts us with crutches only to make us walk on our legs. He rids us of our self imposed defeatism. He is compassion personified. His love generates love, fosters a sense of identity. That is why many feel an enraptured impulse to follow in his footprints. There comes the enigma of the guru. His smile says, "Like a bird on its wings, I

leave no footprints." Then he disappears. He blesses us with direction, momentum, purpose. The last steps have to be our own."

“I see a rainbow straddling my life, its pastel shades a new delight. At journey's end I fear no chasm now, my feet can walk the rainbow heavenwards”

“In the silent depths of the ocean flow, mighty currents unseen. In the truth of this moment lie, all the ages that have been."

“The time has now arrived, my beloved country of ages past,
that finds me instantly alone in blissful union.
I walk in bright light; why shall I look for the sun?
I breathe only fragrance; why search for the flower?
I hear the sweetest melody;why shall i seek the singer? And if I looked and listened, and searched and sought, would I find them THERE?
How could I, when they are HERE, where I am, in me, AS ME”
